Young Coders wants to be and remain as efficient a flat organisation as possible. This keeps us agile and enables us to react quickly to market developments. Of course we are also a bit stubborn. But that doesn’t mean that we sometimes need advice. That is why we created an advisory board under the chairmanship of Michiel Hartman. In addition to this advisory body, we have also recruited a number of experienced coaches, who ensure that our Young Coders are optimally prepared for a career as a software developer.
The management board
Arjan is a member of the Management Team and co-founder of Young Coders. Arjan has more than 30 years of experience in ICT and, before he founded Young Coders, he founded the companies Equality and 24access. Equality was a similar company to Young Coders, in which college and university students were trained to become programmers and successfully deployed on ICT projects. He has a wealth of experience in recruiting, coaching, secondment and custom IT projects.
Arjan focuses on the long-term goals of Young Coders and is responsible for marketing and sales.
Arjan is married, has three children (and a dog named Claire). Arjan loves skiing, sailing, cooking and a nice glass of wine every now and then.
Jan-Willem Ligtelijn is responsible for the day-to-day running of business in the role of COO and has a special focus on recruitment & training at Young Coders. He is the first point of contact for coaches and candidates and draws on more than 20 years of experience in IT, mainly as a developer, business analyst, project leader and project manager. Jan-Willem is co-founder of Sir Miles B.V in addition to Young Coders, in which he has held positions as a manager and consultant.
Jan-Willem is married, has a son, two stubborn pug dogs and a black cat. Jan-Willem loves cooking (bbq freak!), Music, gaming, traveling and Japanese sports cars.
Raisa is VP sales at Young Coders. She is engaged in bringing companies together with Young Coders, and also focuses on the strategic development of the company. Before working at Young Coders, Raisa has mainly been involved in management and entrepreneurship in a family business that is active in various branches (horticulture, real estate and catering), and therefore shows many leadership qualities and creativity. Raisa obtained a Masters degree in Business Administration from Nyenrode University in 2011 and a Masters degree in Political Science from the University of Amsterdam in 2015.
Raisa is passionate about organizations that focus on promoting inclusiveness in society. She therefore co-organizes debates with a political and social perspective.
Chairman Advisory Board
Michiel Hartman has joined the Advisory Board of Young Coders. He advises Young Coders on (recruitment) opportunities and challenges in the market and general entrepreneurship. When he met Arjan and Jan-Willem, he was immediately impressed by how successful they were doing business together. They have a good radar for new developments in the market to set up a new startup that exactly feels what young people and companies are looking for.
After completing his law studies, Michiel Hartman started as Management Trainee at ING in 1990. After he held a number of positions in the Dutch organization, he joined ING Bank International where he was involved in the expansion and support of international banking activities. In that period he also worked in Switzerland. In 1997, Michiel was appointed Senior Corporate Strategist at ING Group and was involved in the formulation and implementation of the ING Group strategy. He was also active as deputy secretary of ING’s Executive Board. In 1999 he was appointed Business Manager in the CEO Business Management team at ING Barings. In this role he was involved in the realization of the ING Barings strategy and he worked in London and Amsterdam.
In 2001 Michiel decided to join Korn Ferry, where he worked as Senior Associate and Client Partner Financial Services. In this capacity he focused on acquiring and executing executive search and leadership development in the top segment of the market. From 2008 to 2010, Michiel worked at Talent & Pro, first as COO of the international holding company and from 2009 also as CEO Talent & Pro Netherlands. From 2010 Michiel is active as a consultant. In this capacity he was affiliated with headhunter Partners at Work and he fulfilled assignments at Deutsche Bank and ING. In this last position he was project leader in the core team Restructuring Selection and several project teams for ING Netherlands, ING Belgium and ING Germany as well as global IT and Wholesale Banking entities.
Michiel is married and has two children. In his spare time he likes sports, architecture, photography and traveling.
